Mississippi marriage license guide
How to get a marriage license in Mississippi
Mississippi is unusual in two respects: parental consent is required until age 21 (not 18), and the marriage license never expires once issued. The three-day waiting period was repealed in 2012 — couples now receive the license same-day at the Circuit Clerk's office. Fees run $20-$37 by county, usually cash only. Two witnesses are required. Mississippi abolished common-law marriage in 1956 for new marriages.
