Ohio marriage license guide

How to get a marriage license in Ohio

Ohio is one of the few states where the Probate Court — not the county clerk — issues marriage licenses. The five-day waiting period was eliminated; licenses are now issued same-day for $40-$75 depending on county. Valid for 60 days. Two witnesses are required. Ohio abolished common-law marriage on October 10, 1991; marriages formed before that date remain valid.
